Tortoise Birthday

Yesterday, June 19 was Themistocles first birthday with me. Technically, adoption day really. I don't know when she was hatched. June 19, 2009 was when I brought her home.

I made her a tortoise version strawberry shortcake birthday cake. The "cake" was canteloupe then actual strawberries and calcium powder for the "frosting".

She devoured the strawberries and "frosting" but left most of the canteloupe. She spent the day romping around my yard and played a fun game of birthday hide n seek. She's quite the hider!

Well, the outside area is basically just the courtyard of my condo, though I'm working on tortifying it a bit here and there. I can post some pictures of it, but it isn't much currently. I have an indoor enclosure for when I'm away.
