Hi , I am a new member and have an urgent question about my 80 +Tortie.
Last June she had an op to remove egg follicles. She has recovered well and has eaten well all through winter as she hasn’t been able to hibernate.
Now we are in summer mode she’s not eating and just wants to stick her head in a corner. It’s almost as though she thinks winter was summer and now it’s time to hibernate.
Any advice on how to get her to start eating would be welcome.
Chris.

What kind of tortoise? Is she indoors or out? 80+ POUNDS or 80+ YEARS? Is the surgery scar all healed so she can be soaked?

Mediterranean spur thighed. Age 80+ we’ve had her for about 45 years.
He scar has healed well and after a reluctance to carry on eating when she knew she should be hibernating she seemed to suddenly get over that blip and has eaten very well all winter, I have been soaking her most days and she’s out in the sun all day. Comes in at night though.
At the moment she grazes a little but generally shows no interest in food .
