Tortoise Food Freeze Dried Instant Meal

Hi,

I purchased Tortoise Food Instant Meal by SFBB. It's freezed dried food containing Organic Catus leaves, mushrooms, pumpkins, dandelion greens,corn, carrot, green beans, calendula flower pedals and calcuim carbonate.

I gave some to my Hermann tortoises and they loved the stuff.

Any concerns with the ingredients?

My biggest concern would be the corn and green beans. I spoke to one of the manufatures about the freeze dried and why they place corn and green beans which are high in sugars and protiens and I was told it is just to balance the nutritional components (but I wonder). I am sure they could find other things that would do the same thing. I prefer to give fresh foods when at all possible but do have some Healthy Herp freeze dried foods for my emergency kit for the torts. Earthquakes here in CA make me tense and I want to be sure I am ready for anything.

I never thought of that, keeping a healty herp freeze dried food in case something happens. Where do you buy that that kind of food?

I purchase the small pack for under $2.00. I plan to get the bulk container and use it as a treat. My Hermann's love it.
