I just got a new russian tortoise and he seems to specifically scratch at his left eye. You guys know more than the pet smart employee that said my russian would grow to 70 lbs. Does all the pics loo

The eye looks good what is your light/heat setup. 70 pounds huh? 7 pounds would be beyond gigantic. Welcome and good luck

Your picture only shows the right eye, and as you've said it's the left eye that seems to bother him I'd like to see the left eye.

90 on hot around 70 on other. I use a uvb and heat lamp
Temps should be a little warmer. 95-100 under the basking lamp, and 75-80 on the warm side during the day.

What type of UVB are you using?
What substrate? Is it damp?
What size enclosure?

A picture of the left eye and a side and top pic of your enclosure would really help.
Looks like you’re soaking the tortoise- that’s great. The water dishes in stores like pet smart tend to be too small. I’d soak daily for a week then at least 2x per week. When you soak, drizzle some water over the eyes- won’t hurt.
I think the pet smart employee is mixed up about the species. Russian tortoises do not grow nearly this big.
