Hi there, I've had my red foot tortoise for a little over a year now and planning to change the lighting as I wan't the best recommended lighting for UVB and heat.

Can you provide me the best lighting and the supplier (I live in the UK so will prefer a UK link/seller)
I was recommended these by the place I purchased my tortoise.

I currently have these THE BULB.jpg TORTOISE HEAT LAMP.jpg UVB STRIP.jpg

This is s vivarium of that size.
It has 2” depth of coir for substrate and moist spagnhum moss piled up in the dark end.
One water dish dug in level to the coir. The evaporation from that maintains humidity levels.
There is s 100watt CHE placed above a 5.0 14” uvb tube light. There is a simple tin lid under the CHE. This assured no hot spot and only an ambient temperature.
Feeding slate is under the uvb tube. The tube is about 8” from substrate.
Temperature is 82/84f throughout the enclosure and humidity doesn’t drop below 90%.
Light is on a timer set on for 14hrs per day and CHE is on s thermostat set on 24/7.

Line you vivarium base with a plastic sheet that wraps up the sides about 3”.

What CHE Would you recommend? I plan to buy a new one but would like to know what the best choice would be.

Also how are you keeping the spagnhum moss moist?

Also would you be able to list the individual setup that you have including the Brand? Thanks

Spagnhum moss is but in enclosure moist. From then on the humidity will keep it moist. You may occasionally have to spray it. This is why the heat source is at opposite side of the enclosure, So it doesn’t dry it out.

Coir is from homebargains. Cost you about £3 to fill that size enclosure.

I will be getting the 100W CHE ordered today - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25W-50W-...0c:m:mAGXEmkRKgtFt22ecCBE7WA&var=581930490896

I plan to get this Thermostat - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tortoise-Vivarium-Electronic-Thermostat-Temperature/dp/B002CA7QGC
I'll also get the 14W Tube - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Arcadia-...30-UV-B-Reptile/121650352444?var=420645045820

For the moss I was thinking of adding a humidifier to keep the moss moist.

Will the lamp I have be fine to use or would it be best I get a new one?

I don't have a homebargains near me is there any other place that would be best to get it from? (Coir)

@Anyfoot is there a reasonable priced thermostat which can monitor the temperature of a morning and a night?

I've also got to get a new lamp since mine doesn't support CHE

You need a ceramic lamp holder for s CHE. Not a plastic one.

Habistat do a day and night thermostat that is relatively cheap. I don’t bother dropping the temp at night.

Can get coir from eBay or gardening shops.
