Hi,
I’ve noticed a lot recently my tortoise keeps sleeping under her water bowl when I’ve not spent time with her for a few hours or when I’ve been at work. She never used to do this but she does it nearly every day now and I was wondering why she does it and if it’s something I need to be worried about because I can’t think why she does this. All these photos are from different days.

That is your tortoises way of saying "I don't like any of the other hiding places you've offered. Make me something better."

That substrate is no good. It will mold when wet, and you need a substrate that can be kept damp so that your baby can dig in and find the needed humidity. You need at least 3-4 inches of substrate. Coco coir works well for babies, but fine grade orchid bark, aka fir bark, aka reptile-bark, works well too.

It's also your way of telling you she's trying to find a cooler, more moist place to sleep.

Mine started doing the same thing during the day. But at night goes back to his humid hide. I’m wondering if it’s related to his water bowl being directly under the heat lamp and his hide on the cool side
