This is tortty. I found it walking across the road when we got bad flooding in our area last year. Very picky eater. Not sure what kind it is. Not real familiar with tortoises. I've tried greens, veggies, fruits and even food from pet store. Only will eat bananas.

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

If the eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) is native to your state, it is illegal to pick them up.

Box turtles will eat fruit, vegetables and greens, but are really more likely to eat animal protein - grasshoppers, crickets, earthworms, etc.

Welcome to you and that cute little Boxie. I keep RF and know nothing about domestic species laws, but I hear from boxturtle keepers that they love and need protein and find wiggly earthworms irresistible. So you've kept your boxie for a year??? If so please wait for our boxturtle experts to chime in. They know the laws and some rehab injured wild animals before releasing them. They will give you the proper advise about how to best handle your situation.
