~ Thank you to all that reached out. The surgery did not go as anticipated, however should fix the issues. Tuff is definitely a boy and is recovering very well so far at home. He spends time outside in the sun and is kept in a sterile place for most of the day inside due to his stitches, etc. Based on the direction of the vet he needs this routine for ten days.
Good to hear Tuff is recovering well! :)

Update: Tuff's procedure did not hold again, he was transported back to Marathon this morning and had another surgery, hopefully this one will hold.

Hang on in there Tuff! We’re all rooting for you!

~ Thank you

~ He will be in total isolation indoors and very warm for several weeks, this procedure required many additional stitches than last time and a mesh cloth insertion.

~ I am told he is alert and seems very irritated as he is in transport back home.

Wow, missed the first post of the first surgery until now. Sure sorry he had to go back. Fingers crossed this one works. I know he's in the best hands possible. Rooting for you all this is the big fix.

I've seen commercials for that mesh stuff they use on humans to repair hernias. The stuff is evidently failing. I hope your vet didn't use that brand. What a trooper he is. And he's going to be so very, very tame with all the handling. Keeping good thoughts in mind for his recovery.

~ Thank you @Yvonne G. According to the vet this is the best option. He stated that if this fails, he is unsure what to do next. I think from the way things were explained to me, the mesh is mainly used as an extra precaution to help secure the area so the stitches can actually hold and allow the skin to fully heal together. Based on these pictures, it looks like it should hold this time. We are taking every precaution with his recovery and following the vets instructions without exception.
