Firstly I will state that Chester Zoo is a really good zoo for taking care of animals in the UK. Here is a short article on their newest turtle hatchling.

"The hatching of this rare Spiny turtle - the first ever to be bred in the UK - was caught on camera by keeper Matt Cook. Faced with extinction in the wild, there have only been a handful of successful breeding efforts anywhere in the world. The youngster's parents were rescued and given to the zoo after an illegal haul was confiscated by wildlife authorities in Hong Kong in late 2000."

I find it ridiculous that a zoo would have to spin this in an inaccurate direction to get attention......

These animals are NOT facing extinction

Successful breeding efforts have been accomplished around the world for years now. Some people are producing them on a consistant basis now...

It says that they face extinction in the wild, not in captivity. If this makes a difference?

But it's good to hear that they're recovering their numbers either way.
