Hi all,
I'm Damian from Toronto, Canada. I have two ten yo Greek Tortoises that I inherited from a friend, but I am moving to a smaller apartment in May and I sadly will not have the space to care for them properly.
I am offering them for free, along with any lighting, habitat and equipment that I've accumulated.
For introductions, they are Mr. DeVille and Miss Babs. Babs is the larger and more dominant of the two and I generally have to feed them in separate areas of the enclosure so that she will not sit on his lunch.
I've recently come to understand that they need separate enclosures, so I need to ensure that if anyone is expressing interest in caring for them, they will need to have the space to do so. Currently they live in a two-level 36" x 84" habitat (photos attached) but they should be separated. I understand that an ideal space for each of them is 48" x 96", so someone would need at least twice that space for the two enclosures.
I will be sad to see these two go, it brings me endless joy to watch them awkwardly eat and do all the other strange things tortoises do.
Please note, I do not want them to go to someone who plans on selling them. I would like to see photos of the area you plan to keep them, as a precaution. Please also outline your experience with keeping tortoises. These two are wonderful little people and have incredible (and odd) personalities.
