UVB for 40 gal breeder aquarium

I bought a 36" long fluorescent light for my 40 gal breeder tank (tank is 36 x 18 inches) but it says "do not use over open water."
And I've read MVB bulbs are a no-go for an aquarium because if water splashes on them, they will shatter, showering glass slivers and mercury over a large area!

Suggestions for UVB for a 40 gal breeder tank?

As soon as I posted that, it suddenly occurred to me that I could get an 18" fluorescent UVB fixture/bulb and lay it CROSSWAYS instead of longways...DOH!!!
