Very dark leopard hatchlings. ???

I would think this was a genetic aberration - the head , limbs/ skin color is also very dark. Would expect it to continue into adaulthood.

I wish we knew the real scientific reason for this. Could just be as simple as extra pigmentation.

Looks wonderful. Do you ever plan on rehoming him/her?

Been a couple months, curious on how this baby is doing and the growth. It's absolutly beautiful. Any new pictures?:tort:

Nah but in all seriousness this is pretty interesting that a hatchling came out this dark. I hope you share more pictures with us as he grows bigger.

I missed this thread when it came out. My last batch of leopards included a very black one, but I'm on my Kindle tonight and my pictures are in my computer. I'll try to remember tomorrow

My last clutch had an all black except the scutes were not dark like this one. Hope they do update this with a pic.

This is my last clutch of leopard hatchlings. The black one has aberrant scutes and hatched a full two weeks before the rest of the clutch:
