I know it is possible to pass a viral infection to some mammals (ferrets can catch the common cold). Can my Turtle the Tortoise (my 2 year old renamed it lol) catch a viral infection?
Usually in the a. m. I'll bathe, "pet" and hand feed a little while cleaning up the enclosure but I'm afraid to really touch the little one since I became sick 2 days ago.

No. Retiles cannot catch your cold. Pretty sure a ferret can't either.

When I used to work with apes, this was a concern. Even monkeys don't seem to catch our colds, and if they do symptoms are mild.

I know that dogs that are given Kennel cough vaccines can be dangerous for people with a suppressed immune system. You can’t give a reptile an illness.

Thank you. A pet "specialist" had told me otherwise. I appreciate the info!
