Squirtle was found crossing Herndon at night (!!!) about a mile away from our house. A woman stopped and took him home to care for him. She and her husband took him to the vet and then have been taking care of him.
I posted an ad on craigslist. The vet they took him to saw my ad and contacted the couple. The couple emailed me and asked for more information and pictures to verify that he was ours. After many more details and pictures we realized that it was Squirtle!
We just brought him home today. HE'S BACK!

Thank you all so much for your help and support!

I just love the name Squirtle. I'm so happy you have him back that must have been awful to have lost him in the first place. The people who found him sound like they're very responsible people you were lucky they found him. Well I guess his vacation is over. :p

Love it when things end happily. Nice that the couple got involved and then the Vet too. Do the couple have other tortoises? Perhaps they might be willing to adopt one in the future from like Yvonne (since your all near to each other, as I recall).
