What Gender Is my Hermann Tortoise?

So, believe this or not, I only named my tortoise Patch about 1 year and a half ago. Anyways I’ve read books and pages on the internet to try find her/his gender, but I still have zero clue.

This is my first gender guess but I'm going to say male? Someone more experienced will come along and tell you for sure

That’s a tough one. The tail looks quite female but the nails on its feet look quite male. It might help if you pull it’s tail out to see how it looks. I know this is harder said than done ,my tortoise needs 3 vets to get him to open his mouth! here is a picture of my male, he’s not a Herman but it might help to compare him
On second thoughts, I’m pretty certain he is a male his rear is wider than I initially thought!
