What species tortoise is this? For adoption at local shelter.

I'm interested in adopting a tortoise, and our local shelter has this tortoise available. I wouldn't want to adopt it without knowing the particular care requirements for that species. Can anyone help with identification? Thanks!

Do you have any other pictures? It's a little hard for me to tell without seeing more of the shell. I'm guessing it's a gopher tortoise, but I would wait for more advice.

It looks like a Greek tortoise, or Testudo graeca, to me.

It looks like a three toe box turtle to me (except I see 4 toes on that back foot). I'd really like to see a better picture.

Thanks for the responses. Any chance it could be a Russian tortoise? I haven't actually stopped by the shelter yet. That's just the photo from the shelter website. If I stop by, are there any distinguishing features that would be easier to check in person. Thanks!
