What type and what gender?

I've had him for about a month, but since I adopted him from a previous owner I don't now what type or what gender he is and I'm curious to know,

That last picture is exactly why I have such a hard time sexing the carbonaria. That's an awfully big fat tail.

I'm getting better at it with time and number of tails seen (mostly pictures) yes, this one is very fat tail but rather short/stubby
