What type of tortoise is this?

My sister inlaw found it in her yard. She lives in Alabama.

Looks like it could possibly be a Gopher Tortoise I think.

Likely a Gopher. It looks like you have them native to Alabama and so I would imagine as in Florida they are illegal to take from the wild and shouldn't be anyway.
