Ihave better luck if I leave the lid on the tupperware container. Holds humidity much better. I just drill 4 quarter inch holes around the top. You can move the egg around a bit for at least 24-48 hours without harming it, but no harm in marking the top with a pencil and not turning it.

Your egg looks a little elongated. The Russian eggs usually look like white pecans...same size and shape. Good luck with it. Nothing cuter than itty bitty russian tortoises.

For the record, digging with a plastic spoon was not all that fun. I was amazed how packed the soil was given that I was digging just an hour after the egg was laid.

Yay!!!!! Good luck! Russian babies are the cutest! This is a picture of an egg my female laid. This one was in the middle of hatching, but I don't think I have any more pictures for comparison.

Early this morning, before 8 o'clock I was out drinking my coffee and "Frogger" was up and digging. Tonight when I got home I scooped out the dirt by hand and found 2 more eggs. The 2 on the right in the photo!

So, they went onto the incubator with the dates and a mark on the top. Life is good.

I think you'll hatch an "Elongated Tortoise", or maybe she packed her entire clutch into one eggshell!
