Hi all. So I've just had to deal with the loss of my 2nd sulcata baby, and am wondering if there is anyone on this forum or anyone you guys trust that actually takes care of their hatchlings.
My first little guy may have been partially my fault in the end, I had him almost a year before he died. But this new guy I had for like 20 days. He was never very active from the get go and had such a horrible vitamin A deficiency that he couldn't open his eyes the last week he was alive. I did everything I could to bring him back, but to no avail.

I got a leopard at the same time and she's fine, in amazing health, so I know my care wasn't the issue now.

there are several breeders here on the forum tom is one of them. you're probably gonna pay a little bit more for a properly raised one but worth it. @Tom

Its is not likely a Vit A deficiency. Its likely this:

Quite simply; people start them too dry and keep them too dry.

Here is the right care info:

I won't have any babies for several months. I charge about the same as everyone else. There are several good breeders here on this forum. I've talked to Lance @Lancecham personally and I know he does a good job starting his babies. Many people here have bought babies from Lance over the years and I have seen nothing but positive reviews.

Here is one more thread to explain what questions you should be asking any breeder:

I was soaking them daily, and him even longer as I noticed him going downhill, but I know you can't undo a certain amount of desiccation :/

Tom on your begin dry mistakes post you have links to easy outdoor Suning for little ones. I am unable to get either of those to open just says forum error. Is there a different link to those? Thanks!
