I noticed for the first time this morning that my Sulcata had what looks like dry and flaky skin on its head. Does anyone have any experience with this? I thought about dehydration, but his enclosure has registers around 60% humidity and 80% in his hide box. It also has a good ambient temp range as well. I give him warm daily soaks for 15 minutes. Any thoughts?

Its quite normal for desert-type tortoises to have white, flakey skin.

Ok. Good. I'm still new at this. My little guy is only 3 months old but he is so much fun.

Have you tried Selsun Blue?
**Just kidding! DO NOT put Selsun Blue on your tortoise*

Thats normal, my sulcata baby head looks like that.
Just make sure he is getting his daily warm soaks for 30 min and his humidity level is at 80% :) its very important for hatchlings to stay very hydrated.
By the healthy looks of him though your already knew that, he is very very cute!

There is no need to soak for 30 minutes. Most tortoises drink as soon as you put them in the water. So basically a 10 minute soak daily is good enough...

O sorry then, I just always soak mine twice a day for 30 min because he never sticks his head in the water to drink it. Every little tort is different :)
