White line about ½ an inch wide going around his carapace above the bridge

My tortoise has a white line about ½ an inch wide going around his carapace and bridge, the full length of him. It is soft, and sensitive to touch for him. Is this normal?

Yes, those are growth lines

That is a growth line. Unusually wider then normal. What are you feeding and what size is his enclosure?
Also what are the temps and humidity and what are you using for lights/heat?
I'm thinking he's possibly not getting enough exercise and possibly a lot of improper foods. It could just be the way he's going to grow too.
