Why did my star tortoise eat dog poop?

We were talking about what wild tortoises do in the wild. This does not mean we should feed them dog crap in our back yards.

I see, I dont purposely feed him/her but we do have 2 small dogs, no medication, but once in awhile will find a little that's dried and removed by the most part.

The dogs should not have access to the tortoise's area, and vice versa. This is a dangerous practice for many reasons.

A secure tortoise enclosure a dog(s) should not be able to go in there. Cats, coons, possums and the like is another story.
