yellow foot trying to bite itself?

yeah i was like wtf when i first seen her do it so thought i'd come to the house of the best tortoise advise for free that one can find on the web.

so i heard a kind of snapping sound and looked at my bertbaybay and seen her head out all the way and turned back around to her left biting the flare of her shell.

any idea why she would do this? does anyone elses tort do this

@Wherethetortiroam It might be an aggression thing, like those videos you see of dogs biting at their tail or hind end because they think another dog is coming over to steal their bone, or chew toy, or whatever. Does this tortoise share it's enclosure with any other tortoises? How big is the enclosure? Sometimes neurotic behavior is due to the tortoise living in too small an area.

I adopted a Tunisian tort that did that when I first got her, she stopped eventually but I’m 100 percent sure she’s got some neurological issues.

at the moment its small but nearly completely done with her big enclosure i've been working on for 4 years now.

poor thing now i feel bad
