So the tortoise in the picture is roughly 3 1/2 years old. I’m pretty sure it’s a male but he’s 12 1/2 inches long and pretty hefty but haven’t weighed him lately. I’m surprised about how big he is relative the other pictures I’ve seen and started wondering if I was sexing incorrectly. I am 99% sure it’s male but he has never flashed with his soaks. I know he’s a little young but he’s huge so just wanted to ask an opinion. If anybody has seen my other posts about him this is Mr. Snarky my rescue leopard.

Can't help, but s/he's gorgeous! And looks decidedly unimpressed with you in the photo on his/her back.

Yeah Mr. snarky was on his back for less than 5 seconds and was extremely angry.

I agree with Mark. The tail seems small for it to be a Male.
However, you call it a rescue. How bad was it before you rescued it?
I rescued a leopard years ago in 2012 or 2013. It looked female for a very long time. Everyone here that posted on my thread about it's sex all said female for sure. Well she turned out to be a he.
He was very under sized for his age and couldn't walk, only scoot when I got him. After proper care, rehabbing and some time, about another 2 years or so, he finally started to catch up, and started to look Male.
So if s/he had a ruff start, s/he could just be starting to catch up.

Mr. snarky’s 3 1/2 and is already almost 13 inches. Been progressing very well. Little bit of pyramiding but that had started as a baby tortoise that was not being taken care of properly.

I vote female and would pull out pink balloons LOL

My male at that size already had a very long tail, obviously concave plastron and I've seen his penis more times that I can count.

Your tortoise's tail still looks stubby and according to those photos, a flat plastron.

Has a little denting in the plastron. Started a few months ago. It was the reason that I figured it had to be a Mr.
