I suggest you run through your tortoise purchases and any questions you have through this forum!
Here is an introduction to this forum and doing research:

This thread has great advice on sulcata enclousures...
Yes, this is why I recommend pallet collars that can be connected together, this type of enclousure obviously needs to be covered. Wellingtons greenhouse idea is also great. Anyway, you got to be ready to modify/build stuff yourself to make it work.
Thankfully OP came to the right place to upgrade the tortoises enclosure. I can't comment on how long the tortoise can be kept indoors, it really depends on the tortoise. I really hope that an outdoor enclosure is already being planned.
I have used pallet collars to build Edward's enclosure. They are also sold as raised planters here and I picked them because they are easy to connect to one another. This definetly isn't the chepest I have seen, but I used a product similar to this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08B3WMFMV/?tag=...
Less than tortoises, most giant African land snail species live up to 5 to 15 years, but some can even live up to 25. Helix pomatia lives about the same. But actually, one of the reasons I picked the iradalei species is because they have a shorter lifespan of 2 to 5 years. At 4 years of age...
Since Monday this week I have been able to take Edward outside a few hours a day to soak up some natural sun. Since his semi-temporary outdoor enclosure is not ready yet, I have been keeping him in a cold frame that is staked on to our lawn. The temps in the cold frame have been ranging from 20C...
Yeah, slate doesn't do much when the beak is already overgrown, but in some cases it might prevent overgrowth in the future.
I recommend you get the beak trimmed at a vet ASAP and then think about how to prevent overgrowth in the future.
I have found that grazing (outdoors or from potted...
I have a soft spot in my heart for native snails too. We have two native snail species in our garden, Amber snails (Succinea putris) and Disk snails (Discus ruderatus), but I unfortunately can't feed them since we have a problem with the invasive copse snails (Arianta arbustorum) in our area and...
I am honored to have you spreading the message!
I got two achatina iradaleis in 2020, one of them unfortunately passed away last year. I haven't been able to find a new friend for the remaining one since the species is quite rare here in Finland. Here are some baby photos of them (taken the...
Well, here in Finland there are soils that come with bugs in them, probably depends on the process. But you are right, even though there are no bugs in the soil to begin with, chances are that they will come from somewhere. But as you said, there are beneficial bugs and some bugs that don't do...
I don't think either that replicating a natural diet should be necessary. There is so much more to their natural diet than just the plant species. With the change of seasons different foods appear and disappear etc. Way too hard to replicate in captivity.
This really wasn't the photo I wanted to see today, or ever for that matter. Wasn't really prepared for this... But my curiosity is peaked, how on earth could this happen without you noticing, indoors?
