Are these plants safe to put in my Russian tortoises enclosure, not as food but more for shelter purposes? Iwasn't able to find clear cut answer on their suitability.
- Meadowsweets/steeplebushes (Spiraea densiflora)
- Some sources state this plant contains tannins, methyl salicylate, and salicylic acid, but could it still be used as a shelter plant?
- Common ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius)
- I can't really find any info on the suitability of this plant.
- Dogwood (Cornus alba)
- Although there is some evidence that the flowers and leaves of the Dogwood are harmless, there are other sources that say the leaves can cause skin irritations in humans, and the berries are slightly toxic.
- I am planning on using this to build structures, would that use case be safe? No leaves, flowers or berries would be in the enclousure)
