    Hibernation

Apologies if there is lots of information on hibernation on here, I searched for hibernation and nothing came up but that seems incredibly unlikely! I also posted this message three weeks ago and had no replies so trying again! I have a two year old marginated tortoise. He hasn’t hibernated...

    Hibernation

Apologies if there is lots of information on hibernation on here, I searched for hibernation and nothing came up but that seems incredibly unlikely! I have a two year old marginated tortoise. He hasn’t hibernated yet and I wondered what the advise was on this. My question really is if that...

    Introducing tortoise and dog

What an incredibly patronising response! Thank you for your advice, I think you may have misunderstood my query - or perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. I have found a solution anyhow.

    Introducing tortoise and dog

I think this thread has veered from my original question which perhaps wasn’t clearly written. I really want advice for reducing interest In the tort from my Labrador. I’m not suggesting a set up like my friends but when Aesop (tort) goes back outside in his outdoor run I don’t want Rollo (dog)...

    Introducing tortoise and dog

She’s had it for 35 years and it’s lived like this so I think it’s a lifestyle that works for them. It isn’t an arrangement that would concern me at all, but I suppose it’s eccentric.

    Introducing tortoise and dog

Thank you so much for this - I clipped his nails this morning and it was no problem at all. He was very obliging and the prospect of a handful of dandelion leaves made it very rewarding. I will keep a closer eye on this in future. I don’t suppose you can think of anything else I may have...

    Introducing tortoise and dog

Hi, thanks for the story and advice. I asked because my friend’s tortoise lives loose in her house with the dogs. It sleeps on a hot water bottle in the dog bed. But I think hers might be a unique set up by the sounds of things. He has an outdoor run the dog can’t get to. I just had ideas of...

    Introducing tortoise and dog

Thank you very much for the unsolicited advice! I have always thought he had long nails but assumed it was for digging and climbing. Do you think if I put him on paving stones a couple of times a week they might wear down naturally?

    Introducing tortoise and dog

Does anyone have any tips or advice for introducing my dog (Rollo, labrador) to my marginated tortoise (Aesop)? Soon the weather will be good enough to put Aesop back outside and I don’t want any interest from Rollo. We have hens and other animals which he doesn’t look twice at and I think the...

Hello from Aesop, the marginated tortoise

Great advise, thanks. I have tried growing dandelions in an AeroGarden but they haven’t really taken to it. I’ll try clover and maybe plantain after Christmas - perhaps they’ll grow better in it! My kitchen windowsill used to be lined with herbs and flowers - now it’s all the weeds Aesop likes!

Thanks, I have seen this - I found it so useful!

Hello from Aesop, the marginated tortoise

Hello, this is my little marginated tortoise Aesop - he is almost one. He’s a very inquisitive little fellow and a bit of a fussy eater. His favourite food are dandelions and clover - which are a bit of a challenge to come by in Scotland in December! Any tips or advise would be much...

    Is this urates?

I’ve had my tortoise for over a year now and this is the first time I have seen this - is this urates? I’ve seen much smaller quantities of a liquid like this before but never this much so it surprised me a little - I just wanted to check that this was all normal! Thanks in advance for any...
