I have an exotic vet that recommends th self ballasted Mercury Vapor UVB bulbs by days and the black CHE by night. It's been working great for me. Although my little ones are fortunate to be able to spend their days in the sunshine almost year round since I live I the valley of the sun.

Update: Okay so little Ginger was taken to the exotic vet yesterday. She was given a clean bill of health! Summary: if given a choice this little one will choose the "spring mix" lettuces over any grasses, Mazuri hay pellets etc. the Dr. Said that the various lettuces contain too much proteins...

So do you think the 3' UVB/UVB light isn't enough, or as good of quality? I realize it doesn't emit heat, my thinking was it disperses in a larger area since the tank is 4' long. I will make some adjustments to the heat sources. I wish there was a way to have them installed inside the tank...
