I would take to the vet to get him on some sort of antibiotic, probably injections, right away. If this gets septic, that will be very deadly. Another thing, make sure his basking platform, he's able to completely dry out while using it, I have heard when turtles are unable to dry out fully...
Always a pleasure seeing what treats for the eyes your tortoises produce! I love my babies I got from you (thought I do love all my animals babies) That squishy one has such a personality. :)
Well, when I say "squishy" I'm of course talking about his weird shaped shell, lol.
Sometimes people find them in the wild with this symptom. I even watched a youtube video of a boxie someone caught and then lanced, treated the area, I believe they set it free the next day.
I purchased a hypo red from Jeff, he put up with my 'doltness' through the entire transaction, was a pleasure dealing with him, and the tortoise I got is even more beautiful in person. :D
I have this plant that grows in a spot in the yard, I threw old decorative halloween pumpkins over there a few years ago and this smelly melon plant comes up every year.... Did I mention the oh so pleasant aroma that this entire bitter melon plants emits? It's like the smell of... really really...
The plecos like to find a good place and stay there for long amounts of time, normally the baby turtles are either basking or digging through the rocks/ornaments. :D
You can put the dead tortoise in the freezer for now, and then once you have the money you can take it in for the necropsy.
Sorry about your baby, very heartbreaking for our animal babies to pass. :( :<3:
I have seen those flat head worms here a few times in various parts of the garden. There's all sorts of fun creepy crawlies here for me to admire on a daily basis. :<3:
