Thank you i appreciate the advice. I will add more of the grass from tomorrow. They are stubborn it’s not always easy to get them to eat grassy things. Damp kale and dandelions are the favourite but I feel better knowing I am adding the 60 grasses from Arcadia.
But will continue to add more...
Yes I agree I’ve started giving them this new product from Arcadia supposed to be what everyone is raving about. When I dissolve the tile it’s just like grass which they won’t eat on its own but I sprinkle it on the kale and they seem to eat it.
Hi, temps are around 34 under basking spot 26 cooler end. Uv lighting is good I have a solar meter so I’m confident with that.
I’m probably too cautious with the night temps and keep them around 25 as I’m always nervous of respiratory infections.
He has a big enclosure but he’s a tortoise...
Do you think so? He has none of the other signs of dehydration such as weight loss, flaky skin, dry faeces and eats loads. Just his eyes always look a bit watery to me
Maybe il give him a bath each day and must his food more see if it help
He loves cucumber but I try not to give too much really
Afternoon,
I wonder if one of you experts could have a look at my Russian tortoise eyes, are they sunken in?? Compared to my other one they seem it.
I’ve had him 6 months seems very happy eats well has his own big enclosure, I just worry about his eyes!!!
I read it can be a sign of...
You are so right Yvonne it’s very grassy, they are eating it but not as impressed as when the kale or dandelion leaves appear.
I will do exactly as you suggested and sprinkle it on as I’m sure what’s in this grass is good for them
Hi
I have 2 amazing happy healthy horsefields living in the U.K. with me.
I always want to improve their food and diet as they love kale and dandelion weeds, however I want more variation incase they miss any nutrients
Arcadia have been discussing this new optimised 52 food now. It contains...
I’m fortunate and grateful to have both of your observations regarding this topic.
I’ve been watching both of mine and honestly already they have moved moved more directly under the lights and opposed to the sides where obviously the uv light is weaker.
I suppose this is the beauty about...
Yes I agree as long as you are consistent.
You are also essentially guessing too, as your machine sits much taller than a baby tortoise.
But I know one of mine definitely prefers it at the sides where the uv level is lower so I have slightly raised the lights.
As Tom says I can’t believe...
Yes you are right I will do exactly this. When i do that now it’s 6 which I know is still high so I will raise the lights. However the sensor is still 2 inches above the tortoise so the 6 is probably 4
I have to say it’s a bit of a silly design surely??
