Here in Texas it's gets very hot and dry too, was 102 F last week, keep torts and turtles hydrated and watered down twice daily, with shades and water. I still worry , I did put a tarp up over shelter to help when it's over 102, that gives them double shade! just careful not to block the wind...
I keep 3 toe box turtles with Ornate box turtles and they actually only associate with their own kind, kinda funny, they are prejudice!! They have been together for about 8 years!
Lots of mixed feelings here, I think it is best to keep apart, however not always possible, best advice, proceed with caution, can seriously injur tortoises if any are put together, same breed and mixed. They should all be loners. I've had to break up many fights and put in time out!!
Dessy, these are native to Oklahoma and here in Texas, I have 4, this is a female 3 toe box turtle, soak him good, put neosporian on his eye, he will be fine, he loves nightcrawlers! I have had them for over 10 years. Arlene
