How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

I moved the probe to the middle, and it's maintaining a Good basking temperature of 95 and ambient temperature of 85. The far side is 81. I've gotten the humidity up and he seems to be doing good.

How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

The further away the probe gets from the heat sources is the hotter the basking spot gets. The basking spot is already at 94° and the rest of the box is at 80. I have sealed all the edges of the box with trex tape, and there are 2 layers of wood on the bottom of the box now. I will try moving...

How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

I have purchased and set up the heat pad. I have the probe dangling in the middle of the enclosure in-between 1 heat lamp with 1 bulb each size, and the heat mat on the far side. Well, the heat pad is heating up to 104° in the center. I tried turning all the lamps off even, still, 104° in the...

How can i create a closed chamber that won't realise humidity?

He already has the whole room, we wouldn't have any room to walk if it was much bigger. I'm looking into a shed but I'm not sure if I could get one big enough at my appartment. If I can't meet his needs, how would I go about rehomeing? Does anyone have any experience rehoming using a...

How can i create a closed chamber that won't realise humidity?

Lewis (my 18lb sulcata) recently had a RI, he was sick for nearly 2.5 months. We got him a humidifier and it worked along with the other things we changed to make him better. We believe he got sick in the first place because we moved to an appartment, and there's so many working variables...

How do you clean your wooden enclosures?

I bought some linoleum tiles, I plan on putting them in tomorrow after I give the dark spots a good diluted vinegar and baking soda scrub. To dry it, I plan on using a hair dryer. I would of gotten a tarp but I'm concerned about him eating it. Thanks for the advice :)

How do you clean your wooden enclosures?

Hi, Lewis's box is starting to get kind of nasty. I plan to give it a good clean tomorrow and was wondering what products I should use to clean wood. It looks like mold to me, it appeared under his water bowl. Thanks Ashlee and Lewis

How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

I purchased the 18x27in kane mat from Tyler at tortoise supply. I'm not sure when it will be here, but I'll keep everyone posted! :) Lewis and I really appreciate the information and advice that's been shared, I couldn't ask for a more helpful group of tortoise experts! Thank you

How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

I measured Lewis he is 15" long and almost 11" wide, I don't think an 18x18 would be big enough for very long so I think I'll get this one? Just to clarify, is this how I should set up my heating for his enclosure? 1. Remove the second thermostat and get a power strip to connect all the heating...

How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

I will look into a Kane mat and return to share the one I picked. Lewis is doing great, he didn't end up going to the vet a couple weeks ago due to weather but every day he gets more active and I can see his personality coming back, he's very friendly again. The cold weather may be making him a...

How should i control the temperature of a heat pad?

There aren't enough outlets on one thermostat to control all the bulbs so I do need more than one probe since there is more than one thermostat. Would a zoomed habitat heater suffice? I can't keep everything on the same thermostat because there's only 2 outlets. I'm still unsure what products...
