I keep them in an enclosure that is 80 to 100 degrees during the day depending in which part of the enclosure the tortoises are with a temperature of 70 to 80 degrees at night. Humidity...

    Leopard Tortoise Female Wanted

Interesting, I was not aware of this. I was researching how to sex leopard tortoises and I read that the males have a "V" shape by tail area and the females have a "U" shape by the tail area. Also I read that the male plastron is slightly concaved. And when I looked at my tortoise he had a...

    NEW INDOOR ENCLOSURE

Hello Mike, I am building this enclosure also as I think it is a great idea. I have a question on the substrate. I see that you are using many different items. Do you mix them all together? Thank you in advance for your reply.

It would seem so but it is not more than 70 degrees in there at night and he still sits in water bowl. Maybe I do need new thermometers.

Daytime temps are 90 to 100 degrees under mercury vapor light and 65 to 70 degrees on other side of tank by food and water dishes. Nighttime temps are 70 degrees. I use a 75 watt infrared light on top of screen at night but temp does not get much over 70 degrees under it. I thought maybe my...

Thank you for replying. Yes, I have read care sheets. Problems started after moving to new enclosure and living area of my home. Before that he stayed on substrate all the time. I use cypress mulch. Temps vary in enclosure from 100 degrees to 70 degrees from side to side.
