Really appreciate the advice, thank you. I'll pop into town and snag a flood bulb for her ASAP. I may switch to the 12% lamp as long as she'll still get enough UV with the foliage, been on the fence about it for a few days.
Unfortunately we can't get the UV lamp any higher - it's a 60cm high enclosure, but with the substrate adding around 5-7cm (and I'd actually like it deeper) and where the bulb sits in its fitting, we've lost around 15cm of that space. Would it perhaps be better to switch out the lamp for the 12%...
We’ve only just got her this week so I’d like to see if her new environment helps before seeking vet help.
She does have cuttlefish available in her enclosure and we already have some supplements to put on her food. Though she seems more interested in eating the live plants we got for her...
Humidity is around 60-65% in her enclosure and the room, peaking at round 70% overnight, it doesn't tend to go lower than this as we live in a poorly insulated house and have to use dehumidifiers to keep it under control.
We're using an Arcadia Pro T5 14% for UV and a 75w basking spot lamp on a...
Yes I thought that was the case. I don't think she's had the best start in life, but she will be well cared for now.
Is there a way to slow it down at this stage, or have we missed the critical growth period?
Her name is Bean - we allowed the children to name her as they will ultimately be her guardians in the future. I wanted Clara, but was over-ruled. 🤣
She’s a little shy, but here’s a few photos.
Hello and thanks for the tips. :) Temp in her enclosure today peaked at 27.4C at the warm end and 25.1C at the cool end. Overnight is a bit tricky as it's so hot here at the moment, last night's low was 21C.
We've been soaking her every day since she arrived on Tuesday and she seems to be...
Super, I’ll see what she’s up to when I’m back from the school run. I’d like to do soaking in the evening anyway so the whole family can get to take part in her daily rituals.
She's just woken from her sleep, had a bit of a wander and is now back behind the fern in the other corner lol.
I do worry about her hydration more than anything, so should I give her a little soak or would it be too stressful at this time?
Thank you for the links and advice. I'm using the HabiStat thermostat to regulate lighting and basking lamp, it does seem to be keeping a consistent temperature on the latter, but I will be watching closely to make sure this stays the case. Unfortunately, our house is not the best insulated and...
Thank you! 😀
I did decide to take a look as she was wedged under the base of a fake plant and I didn't want it to hurt her. She was a bit dozy after I disturbed her, then she wandered off to another corner and started burrowing again.
I'll now leave her until morning and have closed the...
Hi folks, we welcomed our new family member, a little 11 month old Greek Ibera, home today. I just wanted to ask if her behaviour is normal?
Firstly, she pooped quite a bit when she was being handled in the shop. We got her safely home and gave her a little soak for about 10 minutes and she...
