Any findings as to the safety for desert torts? I have a Sulcata so I think it’s a bit different for me, but the Theodore Payne Foundation in LA gave me a list of safe california native plants for CA Desert Tortoises and Buckwheat is listed as safe. Not sure if that helps, but cheers.
@Yvonne G @wellington Do you think I will still need to see a vet? It’s a small puncture but the vets say they would probably need to do a “wound treatment”
Thank you for your quick reply Yvonne. What kind of first aid cream? Is there a specific one you use? And I usually use dilutedDawn dish soap on her shell. Is that still okay?
Hello,
My tortoise’s shell was injured most likely 24 hours ago. She is acting completely fine, but there is a clear liquid coming out. All I can think of for cause of injury is knocking hard on the corner of a concrete paver. I’ve never had this issue before so I would really appreciate any...
How long should I keep her off of it before she eats it then? I’ve read to apply the solution every 3 days until its better or every 10 days for shrubs. I guess I’m more wondering how long it takes for the baking soda to get broken down or pass through the first few inches of topsoil
Hello,
Back again with another gardening question as I continue to repair my lawn for my Sulcata to roam on.
The St Augustine grass has a case of Gray Leaf Spot Fungus so I am trying to figure out a safe way to control the fungus while making sure my Sulcata can safely eat the grass after...
@Tom @Markw84 After some more looking, I think I found the perfect solution. I found an organic omri listed fertilizer product made of Organic Soybean Amino Acids that is 16-0-0 called Grower’s Secret Organic Nitrogen which is sourced from soy protein hydrolysate. It’s water soluble and a...
Okay, thank you for the replies. I appreciate you guys taking the time to help. I’m determined to keep going to build up the grass because my girl is special and seems to do her best to avoid young grass beginning to grow and tries not to eat all the way to the root on the young plants. I like...
Ah I see. Thank you for the explanation. I don’t like taking chances, so I may just do the yard in quadrants and distract my Sully away from the area for a few days. Would watering with a liquid organic compost like Farmer’s Secret soil revitalizer and/or fresh compost like Blue Ribbon Organics...
That’s my plan and what I have done for years, but my grass at this new property simply won’t grow and I did a soil test that determined there is legitimately no nitrogen in the soil so I need to do something to help out the soil
