First of all I’m very much an animal lover and will rescue just about anything.
But it turns out I’m more knowledgeable when it comes to cats and dogs than reptiles. So as you can imagine, I’ve been doing a few things all wrong. smh. But I’m ready to learn as much as possible and have no idea why I haven’t done this sooner!
My coworkers rescued a box turtle from the wild after it was prematurely hatched from its shell. By the time I started working there they had a tank half way set up and no one knew what they were doing. Her shell was very deformed and it looked like one of her shoulders was either injured or not fully developed.
Fast forward to now (almost 5 years later) and she has been at my house for about 2 and a half years now and looks like a completely different turtle! Other than the still bum leg.
It’s really been trial and error when it comes to me trying to figure out what is best for her.
I’m beyond thrilled that she is thriving but I know that it’s time that I do better for her since she’s getting pretty big now.
