    Possible selling advice

Hi folks, I'm considering selling my Russian Tortoise (Dumbledore). Finances are stretched quite thin for the foreseeable future, for various reasons, and I'm worried that I won't be able to give him the care he deserves. I don't want to sell him, but weighing up the options, it could possibly...

Having a UV Bulb in the Kitchen

There's no hood over the light as the bulb description talks about having a wide basking area and long reaching light so I hadn't put one on. It's a table that's about 6ft 7 (2m) x 3ft (1m), and we'll likely be building a bit over it with a railed ramp over the summer.

Having a UV Bulb in the Kitchen

We do but as Mark said, there is virtually no sunlight in Ireland during the winter. Plus, it's cold and wet and windy and it's still snowing on and off so outside is limited. It's not a great country in general for raising tortoises as we have very few warm, sunny days but we have him several...

Having a UV Bulb in the Kitchen

I'm not going to lie, this isn't a topic I know too well so I'm hoping someone has done the research before. Has anyone looked into the risk of having the tortoise enclosure (and therefore UV Bulb) in a high traffic area such as the kitchen? My understanding is that UV ray exposure is cancer...

    Hello!

I feel he would be bored stupid in the enclosures all day, every day. Even with the size it is, there's only so many times he can walk around it. He gets out either in the kitchen (after it's been hoovered) or another small spare room for a short while after his bath for the last four years...

    Hello!

Not at all, the shoebox is in the enclosure as a hiding place. We only allow him out in supervised periods but this time, he had grown big enough to climb out of his enclosure. Hence why we built it up.

    Hello!

We use a shoe box for the indoor shelter so he thankfully can't climb that, but he has climbed out of the enclosure before so we've put a garden border around it to stop that. It's not fun waking up in the morning, still half asleep and nearly stepping on the tortoise because he's managed to get...

    Hello!

Hard to believe those photos are three years old now. The second photo was my attempts to give him a Blastoise costume, but I didn't have enough pipettes so I improvised!

    Hello!

I've been a frequent lurker of this forum so I thought I should finally join. I have a Horsfield tortoise named Dumbledore, or Dumbledork, depending on whatever I feel like calling him. We've had him four years now and I'm starting to suspect he might be a she but I'm finding it hard to tell...
