    Purchased a female and male 6 month old Cherryhead hatchlings. They came in great condition. 6 months later they are doing well. Highly recommend David. He is a great source of information.

    Are u sure your tortoise is a male? Females; particularly, those new to egg laying become hyperactive during this time. A veterinarian can do a physical exam to check the birth canal. Digital x-ray is even better. Very low x-ray exposure. Good luck.

    Red wrigglers are not usually a highly regarded meal item for our Eastern Box Turtles. Usually, offer nightcrawlers. Started fruits and vegetables at age one. Now that Fall is here, they are brumating.

    Thank you. Spent it with Pumpkin, my 8 yo Rescue Redfooted tortoise and two Cherryheaded hatchlings. Have 4 Box turtles. Outside have 11 koi who are 30 plus years with garter snakes, ribbon snakes and water snakes.

    Every will should be honored. Provisions for pets require constant updating. I think my intention with this thread is more about rescue animals. At age 74 a rescue makes more sense than acquiring a hatchling.

    Have 3 Eastern Box turtles and one Gulf Coast Box turtles. 2 females and 2 males. Had Indian Star tortoise, but was Failure to thrive. At one year weighed 30 gm. Went to the happy hunting ground. Because I live in the suburbs of Boston, Box turtles make more sense.
