Make sure you check the care sheets in the forum. Tomatoes and mushrooms are not the best for your tort. There are plenty of feeding guides to help. You can check out https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/ for more help. There you will find what plants are best for your tort's diet.
Are you soaking it? That may help. My tort's appetite is really high after her soak. Do you have grasses nearby? When you can get greens, which are they?
I second the flipping hazard dish. I have the same one; my little Hebe is seen in my profile pic soaking in it (with supervision). But it used to be in her enclosure. It was given to me with some other "tortoise items" that were obviously from a pet store. I left her in it while going to get...
Hi there. You may want to try putting them in pots if there aren't already. I purchased 6 pads off Etsy back in November; I planted three in pots and three in a flower bed, all with a dab of rooting hormone on the cut. The ones in pots are growing much faster than the ones in the ground with...
You can absolutely change the name and set the addresses to private on your wishlist. In fact, you can even have the recipient be your torts' names so you know exactly who the package is for. :)
What a beauty! My Redfoot is close in age (November 2018). S(he) doesn't like Mazuri or Wheat Grass either. They are the two things she will leave in her plate. S(he) loooves her Hibiscus, Dandelion greens, and Watercress though. Glad that we have a Hibiscus in our yard. Going to plant...
This is a very nice idea. If you could put some of these things in wishlist or registry on Amazon, you could get some items from people able to spare a few bucks. I certainly would. :)
I second this on the "water dish", which was learned from experience. One of those was given to me and I am so glad I caught Hebe right after she flipped. I had walked in the kitchen to get her greens and when I came back she was on her back. Scared the crap out of me and we switched to a...
That probably happens, but generally cat/dog booties are supposed to protect their feet from the elements. Even though a dog/cat paw pad is thick and somewhat calloused, snow and very hot pavement/asphalt (like we get here in Miami) can burn them. This recently happened to my dog at a Humane...
Okay, thank you very much. Correction on my post- hottest spot is between 90-100, but now I will be taking that lower on the thermostat when I get home.
She does get some outdoors time (weather permitting) on the weekends, but I'm not sure it's enough. Weekends are the only time we are home...
Hello Tort enthusiasts!
I am a new Tort mom to Hebe, a Redfoot hatchling, who is 3-4 months old now. Hebe was a surprise for my husband. He is tortoise and turtle lover and has been missing something since is box turtle, Andrea, died a few years ago.
Hebe is doing well (eating, soaking...
I recently had an encounter from Craigslist that I didn't feel comfortable with. The breeder was about 45 min away and I let him know that I wasn't sure when I would be able to get to him to see the tortoise. He messaged, "np. Just PayPal me the money and I will hold the tort for you." I told...
