Thanks for sharing your thread! I particularly appreciated putting their long lives in perspective. Maybe this year hasn’t been ideal, but I can get creative with the space we have. — and I’ll have an outside patio again for her this spring.
I was considering putting some bricks on top. I think I’ll get brave and screw some eyelets into the side to wire her milk crate in place.
But are tortoises like birds? Do they just lay eggs whether or not they’re fertile? I was trying to go through older threads and read at least one story...
Thank you! She has some slight irregularities from my misadventures as an owner before getting the chamber. Getting this was a life changer for both of us.
Hi folks,
The last week or so my girl Nochi has been stampeding during all waking hours and regularly redecorating. In the past this has usually meant something about her enclosure was off or she was demanding more food. She keeps trying to dig out of one particular corner whether it’s hot or...
Thanks! It was really considerate of you to take the time to ask for extra pics and to check for swelling. I’ll just keep an eye on the marks and monitor for any negative change.
And her name is Tenochtitlan, but we just call her (or him) Nochi.
Ants are a real possibility. They get on her whenever she’s outside, and I’ve found them in her tank before.
I’ll pick up some neosporin for her today!
Thanks!
It's a 55 gallon, but I have an 8x3 on order with Mark. She just really hit a growth spurt in the last few months.
I did research on isopods, and hadn't heard of any problems. But if other people have had issues I won't move them over.
Hi Everyone,

Heya!
My tort hates old cactus, so I refrigerate them so they stay fresh for a few weeks.
Once cut and cleaned, they will go bad faster. I typically only clean half a pad at a time using BBQ tongs to hold the cactus and a sharp knife to remove the spines. When bad, they look it. Slimy on the...
I give presentations to kids most weeks. —about coding, not tortoises. But, I totally agree. Ask them the all the questions! Like do they think tortoises have spines? How long do they think tortoises live?
How long ago was the first tortoise hatched?
Be prepared to answer your own as needed...
