Hey everyone! This group was so helpful in learning everything I needed to know about sulcata’s when my guy was given to me. And everyone in here was so helpful on helping me get his enclosure up to snuff to stop the pyramiding that had started when he was a baby. I think I have stopped the...
Thank you so much! I’m using a digital meter attached to this reply. And someone has told me to get it off the floor so I have it on an old PB cap to get it a little higher.
I did raise the lights to get the temperatures a bit lower since most of my temps were a bit higher.
I went around the...
Thank you so much!! I’m working on getting the humidity higher in his enclosure. Only place I can find the humidity might be escaping is the very bottom of the greenhouse. No holes anywhere else in the greenhouse
Your tort is beautiful!! I love the little split scute!
He is in a closed chamber now. I have him in a 3x6 ft bin that is surrounded by a greenhouse that is 3 ft high. He wasn’t for the first few weeks as I just made best use of what he was gifted to me in at first until the supplies I needed to make the closed chamber came in.
I am aware of the...
From my research, it appears he was. Breeder told my friend that water didn’t need to be in his enclosure, spring mix only was a good diet and that he only needed to be soaked once a week. It’s another reason I’ve been trying to do so much research. To make sure can potentially stop or undo...
Thank you so much for the confirmation. The breeder told my friend this but frankly, with what I have learned about how they keep their babies since this little guy was gifted to me, it made me doubt it. I’m glad to know it’s not a problem
This is the hygrometer I’m using. I have others that I have put in, all digital and they were all the same so I feel like it’s accurate (these numbers are not what the habitat numbers look like. I had taken it out as well as other things while I was cleaning it out and he was soaking.)
I have...
Hey there! So I wanted to post some pictures of my 10 week old babies shell and get some opinions from all of you knowledgeable people on here about how he looks. Humidity in his habitat is kept from 79%-83% depending on how much I’ve had to open the greenhouse doors that day. He gets outside...
Hi, so I’m not sure if you saw my above reply but I actually was working on a bigger enclosure for him with a greenhouse for better humidity control for him over the weekend.
The glass terrarium was a gift to me along with this hatchling about two weeks ago. And I’m about 1 hour away from the...
Oh that’s so neat! Yes Zip sure does add so much joy for both me and my kids. My son just sits and watches him through the top of the greenhouse any chance I let him. He is fascinated, which is a good thing because Zip might be his after I’m dead and gone from the sounds of it 😂
Thank you Tom, I’ll look into both of those and choose one that seems to work best with my new setup.
On the bright side, this little guy seems to of only had snot out of his nose for a day or two. I’ve been keeping his new home at 85 day and night. Still working on getting the humidity high...
