    14 month leo pyramiding

Thank you for your reply, I am enjoying this thread.:) I find that it seems more difficult to acquire researched info. on Leopards than it is for Redfoots etc. For that reason, I avoided getting a Leopard Tortoise for years, even though I'd ALWAYS wanted one. I have two Redfoots, one of which...

    14 month leo pyramiding

Good job on researching requirements for your tortoise!!:) Your care seems to be really good, although you don't mention specifics re. diet. I agree that housing your leopard tortoise outside when possible is excellent. I'm a bit nervous about humidity requirements for these guys as I've heard...

    Lilacs?

Thank you emysemys.:) I like to be certain before I feed as I know one can't assume all parts of a plant are safe. Re. location....I'm a proud Canadian.... not far from the Buffalo border actually. Great to find such a friendly, progressive forum!:shy: Holly

    Lilacs?

Hi list, I've checked various sites, but so far haven't been able to confirm if Lilacs and wygelia (sp.?) are safe food options for torts. If anybody has experience feeding these items - or can direct me to a site that lists them I'd be grateful. Thank you in advance:shy:

    Anyone know about this?

Not sure where you live, but I'm in Ont. Canada and that's an aggressive growing weed hated by farmers and gardeners alike here. I've always head it referred to as "wild mustard", but can't help you with the botanical name. Now that I know it's enjoyed by boxies I'll see if I can research it a...

    food cubes! YUM!

I started doing this in the winter.... as others have noted, my endive etc. was always going bad before I could use it all. I process it through the food chopper, than feeze in ice cube containers. For my Redfoots, I'll often add papaya or mango to the slurry as well. My older redfoot (Grace)...

    is this plant toxic?

I'm a newbie on the list with an interest in feeding "home grown" and as natural as possible. Just double check before you plant the Honey suckle. It can be very aggressive and I seem to remember reading that although the blossom is o.k. to feed, the leaves are not recommended.
