@Tidgy's Dad
Thank you very much for your kind words. Yeah, two years ago I stole her from my neighbours after finding out that they were abusing her etc. It's seems like either her injuries caught up to her or as you mentioned, she might not have been hatched in the right conditions.
I...

It seems that my tortoise has died during the night. I honestly cannot determine the reason why she got sick and died. She had all the right temperatures, humidity, soaks, calcium and food. Its honestly really baffling. I guess this is life, sometimes it just can't be...

Thanks for your replies!
I'm doubtful it's tetanus since there are no metal objects in her enclosure ( unless if tortoises can get tetanus another way? )
I'll open her mouth tomorrow morning and see if there is anything there that is visible. Finding a vet here is very...
Yeah that's exactly it! She is moving normally and is still is quite active, she's just not opening her mouth for some reason.
That seems quite probable, because one thing i noticed is that even though she isn't opening her mouth, she still is bringing her head next to the lettuce which is odd...
Yeah, she's still drinking. I'll try to open her mouth tomorrow morning once she wakes up. Do you think that this could be serious? Has anyone encountered something like this before? I'm extremely worried.
Hey everyone,
3 days ago, my tortoise suddenly stopped eating food on her own. I thought that maybe she wasn't hungry, however today, when I went to hand feed her some lettuce, it seemed like she was having troubles opening her mouth to eat. At first, she would maybe open her mouth a millimeter...
I can almost guarantee its hair. I had to pull a few out of her  i'm just not sure whether its human hair or tortoise hair(which makes no sense, why would tortoise have hairs growing in their bodies). And no, I never let her roam the house.
Hey everyone,
Today, my tortoise Lexa pooped out quite a bit of hair (slightly long) that was stuck to her poop. I would like to know if this is normal or not? It's the first time I have seen this. I almost never take her out of her enclosure unless its for soaking so if it's not normal I'm not...
Thank you for posting these threads. They're really helpful :D
I would like to agree with the others here Janelle. I think a visual barrier is pretty important. I used to soak Lexa in a clear plastic tub and while soaking she would always try to escape etc. However, when I switched to an...
Ahh yes, I mean to say PowerSun not ReptiSun
I'll definitely be looking into buying a UV meter. I understand that maybe after a while the bulb could stop outputting useful amounts of UV. I'll probably have to look for a UV meter cheaper than the Solarmeter ones though. Thanks for the...
Thank you all for the great responses! I got pretty mixed views here in this thread so I'll take some time to think about what to do.
I use a MVB bulb by zoomed. I think it's called reptisun. It's pretty good, I replace it every 6 months.
Hey everyone,
My tortoise 'Lexa' has pretty much been indoors 100% of the time since I got her due to really bad weather conditions here in Kuwait (it can reach up to 122+ degrees Fahrenheit here :(). However, only in the next month or so the weather will be good enough for her to be outdoors...
