Bug bombing for moths (permethryn) with tortoise

Again, not greatly concerned about foreign bodies. We have a robot vac that goes round daily so you could literally eat your dinners off the floors. Frankly I think he’s far safer on the floor inside than he is outside as we have a lot of local free roaming cats and foxes. It rains a lot here...

Bug bombing for moths (permethryn) with tortoise

He also has UV lighting and heat in his enclosure for the majority of the day. He only goes on the floor for a supervised hour at a time. We have underfloor heating and a very well insulated home. It's very warm.

Bug bombing for moths (permethryn) with tortoise

I mean there is nothing for him to get stuck underneath. We have house plants he can hide behind and a few corners he can shelter in. But he is watched the whole time.

Bug bombing for moths (permethryn) with tortoise

Thanks for the advice, but I really don't think that's an issue here. There is nowhere for him to hide and nothing for him to get stuck underneath. We have no other animals, nothing for him to fall down and I work from home so I'm around the whole time he's out so he is never left alone. It...

Bug bombing for moths (permethryn) with tortoise

We have a 3 year old hermanns tortoise. We have to fog the house with permethryn bug bombs and spray the carpets with permethryn spray as we have a moth infestation in our wool carpets and have been told by the pest controller that this is the best way to deal with it. The tortoise enclosure is...

Is Heat and UV lamp necessary indoors in Summer for Hermanns in the UK?

Our tortoise table is in a very sunny room. Do we need to keep the UV/Heat lamp on in the summer? Some days it's getting very hot dependent on the weather but this year its been in the mid 20's some days too so hard to know how warm it needs to be? It's been so wet that taking him outside every...

Hermanns large weight loss first week of Brumation

Ah ok. So he's in a base of Komodo straw terrain. We had him in tortoise sand when he was winding down, but he kept spilling his water and it get so wet and he got so messy, so we moved him to something dryer. I can definitely wet this down somewhat.

Hermanns large weight loss first week of Brumation

Honestly @Tom I'm not really sure what you're telling me to do? He's already in brumation. What do you suggest? All I've done was followed the guidelines on the tortoise trust website in relation to preparing him based on his age etc

Hermanns large weight loss first week of Brumation

Hi, this is the first winter we're trying to Brumate our Hermanns tortoise. He's about 3 years old. He was 13cm and exactly 500g when I weighed and measured him last week which seemed suficcient to brumate this year, and he had been eating less and less and sleeping more and more which led us to...
