It's funny. He has plenty of options for shade in my backyard. In fact, his burrow is under a tree. Before he had the burrow, he would manage his temp by hiding under the bushes, but doesn't go near them anymore. Weird...

Logic would tell me that it's some sort of mechanism to keep his eyes hydrated.

I'm still learning here, folks... so don't laugh.
Franklin doesn't seem to hear or see me coming. If I approach him from the front, he usually "pulls in" when I get close to him. In general, how well can African Sulcatas see and hear?
