Thank you for your reassurances. It’s good to know how much knowledge there is in our community and everyone is more than happy to help a fellow tortoise slave!!!
Many thanks for taking the time to respond. My thinking is the same as the 2 replies. Yes he does do huge poos after a soak which suggests he maybe dehydrated before soaking. I have definitely seen him drinking water with his mouth so the observation through the softer tissue is definitely a...
Our 12-13 year old Redfoot tortoise Harry ll seems much more hungry and active after a good soak for half an hour or so. My wife read somewhere that tortoises drink through their bottoms (anuses) I’m not so sure. Can anyone confirm or deny this please. Tortoise dad Fred.
Hi there, I live in Gravesend, Kent and asked the same question a few weeks ago. Many people were shocked at how low the temperatures were that I was putting my 10 year old Red Foot out in. But Harry 2 was born and raised in cold UK so is used to running around in temperatures way below those...
It’s great to connect with someone with a sense of humour, so many tortoise people are too intense!!!
Harry 2 has been in the garden again today as it’s been 22c. I think he has worn himself out as we Brought him in for the night and he settled straight down in his sleeping hut.

Regards.
Thanks for your feedback.
Harry 2 functions well at 20c. He has been born and raised in UK and we hardly ever reach the tempatures you quote, yet he still charges around the garden like a mad thing. Even had to pull a dead mouse out his mouth the other day, he wasn’t happy to let it go. I know...

Many thanks for your reply, however there has been no change in his diet which is varied but consistent.
I will reintroduce one item at a time to see what triggers the upset stomach.

My Redfoot, Harry2, has had diarrhoea for the last 3 days after eating food, either fresh or the special tortoise dehydrated pellets. (Can't remember what you professionals call it?)
He is usually a very good eater without any...
