Oh really? Basking lamp is longer than LED? I thought led was like day light and basking lamp was for when the sun was the highest.
I will change them tonight.
That's why I took pictures this morning 😅
The lamps turn on automatically at 7am for led, 8:30 i think for heat lamp (it was 9am but I modified last weekend because tortoise is basking under LED light in the morning I think) and i think 10am for UV
This is an old picture. I am not sure i have the new enclosure.
Under the ceramic heater (which is off for the moment because of summer) there is water. (In the inside enclosure) and there is also a white LED in the center. The big shelter is in the opposite of the heater.
In the outside...
Yep I will try and share pictures on how I did it.
Thank you
And my tortoise seems healthy and does its wheel sometimes for a very long time. And I give him a blueberry once every 2 weeks and now when I put him out of the enclosure he stays next to me and comes to me like to ask for a...
My whole set up is from exo terra.
I check about 3 different places and highest i saw was 90uW. But I will check again
I think the UV lamps is quite high not close from the tortoise. Maybe at least 35cm high.
I dont know if we can see on the picture how high it is.
PS: for people who might...
So the tube UV set up was not available in south Korea, so i found a reflector that works with bulbs. That's what I am using.
I bought one UVB bulb from terra and I bought the other one in the shop I bought the reflector. I dont remember exactly what I bought.
I think they are both exoterra...
Hello,
I just got a kind of cheap UV meter just to check approximately the UV light.
Note that my tortoise shell is still quite dark even after about 4 months of UV being install.
The UV I measured was about 75uW/cm2.
But i have no idea what range i am expecting.
I will look online now...
Yes i was not talking for now.
I just never heard about anything concerning tortoise grooming. So I asked. Better to know now than when it is too late.
Ilmaybw i should do something now to prevent it's claws from becoming too long, or give special food or soelmething to prevent its beak from...
Ok thank you.
I might need to watch videos at that time cause it looks scary.
I also read somewhere we can add chopped hay in the food to help sharpen the beak.
But I saw this only once so I dont know if it is reliable. And my tortoise doesn't like eating the hay.
I'm going to read them now.
But it is already eating from a clay dish.
I bought so it wouldn't be slippery.
Also I leave him in a open enclosure in the morning with heat lamp and UV. But the remaining of day and night he is in a closed enclosure where humidity is closed to 90%. The enclosure...
Hello,
I am curious now that my tortoise is becoming bigger.
Is there any grooming I need to do?
Like cutting claws, taking care of the shell or it's beak to keep it sharp, etc...
Thank you in advance.
