i remember reading they can be found around kazafstan or somewhere, central asia.
maybe they were referring to old soviet union area.
mother russia is clearly too cold for tortoise i think :)
i used to have styrofoam outside of the cage but the temp inside got too high so removed,
however if i live in more colder climate it should be a very good addition !
georgia is much more humid cuz the wind and cloud from the sea got stopped at the mountains.
horsfield i believe is from the other side of the mountain where its more dry.
searched for minimum temp and batumi area is almost only one where doesnt go under zero c so thinking about it actually.
likes rahter less tourism atomosphere tho :)
modern city has better infrastrucutre i understand.

may off topic a bit but did you experience any water/gas/elec stop while you visited there ?
i believe the summer cannot go above 25c so its rather cool climate generaly.
can stay a year without visa,
cats and dogs roaming and sleeping around city,
some cities dont go down below zero temp,
cheap to live,
funny language and terrific rural area sceneary right out of RPG world.

i know they are costy but as you said the price may go down or at least come with bigger capacity with the same price range !
regulations, yes, dont wanna make her suffer long for that inspeciton thing but understand its unavoidable when export/import animals ;(

i have a 40yr old russian, who might live another couple of decades :)
contacted an animal importer/exporter with experience and sounds like they can handle the transport so if she is still alive when i retire, ill bring her to wherever i go.

heard elec can go out often and winter is cold, with gas heater as the most common way to warm a house.

retire gonna be like a decade later so any...
trimming my hors's beak by using pencil router while avoiding to injure her mouth usually makes me dizzy, but it is worth it !
u wont suceed with it every day but every (literally) bits counts !
