His basking spot is 85 and the other end is about 78

I have a four year old Russian tortoise. Lately, he's been going to sleep and 4 pm and not waking up until 9 or 10 am. He also sleeps for the majority of the day. I soak him 2 times a week, but he is just sleeping even more. Thoughts?!

When I soak my tortoise, do I just fully submerge him into the water, or do I prop him up on the edge so his head isn't underneath?

Just yesterday, I got a male Russian tortoise that is about 2 or 3 years old. I know it is going to take him awhile to adjust to his new environment, but I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to help him adjust.
